Highschool

The best thing about Highschool, I have to say is the freedom. We can go about the halls as we wish, teachers are less strict, and we have more independence... Looking back to middle and elementary school I haven't realized how controlling and 'hawk' like the teachers were, watching your every move. Now, Roaming the halls, having your phones out are allowed. In addition to that, the whole student body received iPads. With teachers like Mr.Reiff that incorporate technology, learning is a lot more creative and modern. I feel that my past teachers hyped up Highschool too much, and now that I'm here the teachers are less strict then they were.  However with freedom, comes with a lot more responsibility, which I believe is the worst part of Highschool. Grades start to count, and it feels like the stress triples. Overall, The positives of Highschool, out weigh the negatives.

God is...🙈

From Reading multiple parts of Genesis, I come to a conclusion that God is not only loving and kind but he is merciful. This was a interesting perspective to view God since he isn't generally viewed as creul as he is made in Genesis. Through creating this I come to a realization that God came off as a bully, he wiped out life by creating a flood and earlier on he sentenced Adam and Eve to live a life that is not just good but evil. God is a complex and superior character, who I believe abuses his power a little to often.

Adam and Eve🍎

Oh no! Adam and Eve ate from the forbidden tree of the Garden of Eden, now who is it to blame? I believe it's clearly the serpent's fault. When Eve came across the serpent, he had decived her of thinking it is right to disobey God, and eat from the tree. Eve, being simple minded, was oblivious of the severe consequences that may follow especially after the serpent said to her "you would not die."(from eating a apple). The Serpent had tempted Eve, also mentioning that they would become just like God, having knowledge and wisdom they couldn't even dream of having.  Also the tree had looked like any other tree in the garden, Adam and Eve thought there should'nt be a problem. After all, "their eyes were not open", unaware of the Good and the Bad. When God first created Light, Darkness, and all other natural wonders. It was his intention when creating man (Adam), that he was a simple being, doing none other than following the rules of the lord. God even said himself "it is not good for the man to be alone". Of course Adam would listen to Eve, and eat the apple because he had no prior life experience of what would come if you do wrong. To top it off, God knew that man and women were clueless of life. However it is still the fault of the Serpent who persuaded the simple people to eat from the "magical" tree, unfortunately leading them to be kicked out.

Korean x Mesoptamian: Flood Myths

All civilizations usually have a story about a great natural disaster, and a person/people surviving through it saving the day. In this case, for the early Koreans and Mesopotamian's, it's about an tremendously dangerous flood. The Korean flood myth begins by introducing the protagonist, a young boy named Gim, first faced with a flood. In a brief overview, Gim searches for robbers who killed his father, through that he meets another boy becoming very close until being forced apart by storm. From there the boy continues meeting and separating from new people due to floods still hunting for the robbers. The myth is similar to the Epic of Gilgamesh since Utnapishtim and Gim have their life threatened by the flood, both find safety (Utnapishtim~ boat, Gim~ laurel Tree)  while saving different groups of animals and humanity itself. Also to compare, they were both the “chosen one” and only main hero saving humanity after being punished by god. It differs because Gim wasn’t aware ahead of time of the flood and it happened continuously over a course time . Another reason the myths differ is that Gim has a mentor, with magic involved, who helps him defeat the robbers while challenged at the same time with the wrath of the flood. Overall these two stories are quite similar, with Utnapishtim and Gim faced with a harsh flood, saving the lives of many creatures and people.
